Akasa Air launches flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport
Akasa Air has commenced operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), marking a significant milestone in the airline’s growth journey and India’s evolving aviation landscape. The launch underscores the strategic importance of NMIA as a next-generation aviation hub for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The airline’s inaugural flight took off on 25 December 2025, departing from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi at 0525 hrs and arriving at Navi Mumbai International Airport at 0810 hrs. The return inaugural flight departed NMIA at 0850 hrs and landed in Delhi at 1115 hrs, officially establishing Akasa Air’s operational presence at the new airport.
New Routes Enhance Connectivity from Navi Mumbai
With the commencement of services, Akasa Air will operate scheduled flights connecting Navi Mumbai with Goa, Delhi, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, significantly enhancing connectivity between Mumbai’s metropolitan region and key business, VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives), and leisure destinations.
Passengers can now fly Akasa Air from Navi Mumbai to:
- Goa (effective 25 December 2025)
- Delhi (effective 25 December 2025)
- Kochi (effective 26 December 2025)
- Ahmedabad (effective 31 December 2025)
These new routes strengthen NMIA’s role as an emerging gateway while offering travellers greater choice, convenience, and network flexibility.
Ceremonial Flag-Off Marks the Maiden Flight
To commemorate the launch, a ceremonial event was held at Navi Mumbai International Airport, where a traditional lamp was lit to flag off the maiden flight. The event was attended by Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air, along with senior leadership from Adani Airport Holdings Ltd.
Adding a special touch to the occasion, the first passenger on the inaugural flight was presented with a commemorative boarding pass, celebrating Akasa Air’s entry into operations from NMIA.

Highlighting the broader impact, Dube noted that enhanced connectivity would support regional development, strengthen economic linkages, and ensure aviation continues to be a durable engine of growth for India. He also confirmed that Akasa Air will have the largest percentage of its fleet and operations based out of NMIA, positioning the airline as an early and significant participant in the airport’s development.
Navi Mumbai International Airport as a Long-Term Growth Pillar
Akasa Air is among the first airlines to commence operations from NMIA, and the airport is set to become one of the airline’s key growth pillars in the years ahead. The carrier plans to progressively ramp up its presence, scaling operations to 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures.
As part of its broader network strategy, Akasa Air is also targeting the establishment of 10 parking bases by the end of FY2027, alongside a focused international expansion into key Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets.
The airline’s early presence at NMIA aligns with its long-term strategy of building a resilient, reliable, and robust network supported by next-generation aviation infrastructure.
