Delhi Govt Intensifies Food Safety Checks Ahead of Festive Season
With the festive season approaching, the Delhi government has ramped up food safety inspections to ensure quality and protect consumers from adulterated products.
Food Safety Raids Conducted in the Capital
The Food Safety Department of the Delhi government, in collaboration with the Delhi Police, carried out surprise raids targeting vehicles transporting khoya (milk solids), a key ingredient widely used in festive sweets.
During the checks at Khoya Mandi near Mori Gate, officials collected 11 legal samples and nine survey samples of khoya from 11 vehicles. These steps are part of the government’s preventive measures to curb adulteration during the festive rush.
Testing and Next Steps
The collected samples have been sent to the Lawrence Road laboratory for rigorous testing. Authorities stated that the results are expected within 14 days. Based on the findings, strict action will be taken against violators who compromise food safety and public health.
Ensuring Safe Festivities
The move underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding consumer interests during festivals when the demand for traditional sweets surges. By tightening surveillance and quality checks, Delhi aims to ensure that residents can celebrate with confidence, knowing that their festive delicacies are safe and genuine.
