Ethiopian Airlines Strengthens India Presence with New Hyderabad Route

In a significant move to enhance air connectivity between Africa and the Indian subcontinent, Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new passenger service to Hyderabad, India. The inaugural flight took off on June 16, 2025, marking a major milestone in the airline’s expanding global network.

A Grand Inauguration at Addis Ababa

The launch was celebrated with a vibrant ceremony at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, graced by senior government officials, ambassadors, aviation industry leaders, and distinguished guests. The event showcased Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to opening new travel corridors and creating more accessible options for passengers traveling between Africa and South Asia.

Expanding Horizons Between Continents

This new route underscores Ethiopian Airlines’ ongoing efforts to deepen its presence in India and broaden its international reach. By connecting Hyderabad—India’s dynamic tech and business hub—with Addis Ababa, the airline continues to position itself as a bridge between continents, offering travelers increased convenience and flexibility.

Flight Schedule at a Glance

The thrice-weekly service will operate as follows:

  • ET 682: Addis Ababa (ADD) → Hyderabad (HYD) – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays
  • ET 683: Hyderabad (HYD) → Addis Ababa (ADD) – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

While officially launching the new route, Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, remarked, “We are pleased to commence this new passenger service to Hyderabad, the fifth destination Ethiopian operates in India. We believe that beyond providing air transportation service, this new flight will play a pivotal role in strengthening trade and tourism ties between the two regions.”
