Goa’s Tourism Minister Appeals to Centre for Aviation Expansion & Cultural Tourism Boost.
Goa’s Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte met with Union Ministers to seek federal assistance for growing the state’s aviation connectivity and advancing a “concert economy” tourism mode
Strengthening Air Connectivity
Meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Khaunte raised concerns about the economic viability of domestic flight routes and the limited international access to Goa. He stressed the need for more direct international flights from key markets and urged measures to make domestic routes more sustainable for airlines.
Championing the “Concert Economy”
In talks with Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the spotlight shifted to developing a “concert economy”—a tourism strategy built on immersive cultural experiences rather than traditional leisure.
The aim is to leverage Goa’s rich heritage—festivals, spiritual sites, and historic landmarks—to attract discerning, high-value tourists.
Shared Commitment to Sustainable Growth
Goa’s Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte stated, “Goa is not just a destination; it’s a cultural emotion. By building a concert economy and strengthening aviation linkages, we aim to make Goa globally accessible while preserving its soul. Our discussions today reflected a shared commitment between the Centre and the State to work together on building a tourism framework that is experiential, sustainable, and globally connected.”
Both ministers welcomed Goa’s proactive strategy and promised support for developing tourism infrastructure that balances cultural identity with sustainability
