Hilton to launch Waldorf Astoria in Delhi Aerocity
Hilton has signed a strategic agreement with Delhi International Airport Limited to launch two new hotels at GMR Aerocity in Delhi. One of the properties will be developed under the prestigious Waldorf Astoria brand, marking its second location in India following Jaipur, which is expected to open within the next 3-4 years. The launch date for the Waldorf Astoria in Delhi has not yet been announced.
The second hotel will operate under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. Combined, the two upcoming properties will contribute approximately 500 rooms to the Delhi hospitality market.
This expansion aligns with the increasing demand for luxury accommodations driven by a surge in air travel. It also supports Hilton’s long-term vision to scale up its footprint in India significantly—aiming to grow its portfolio tenfold to over 300 hotels within the next decade.
“The introduction of Waldorf Astoria and our flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to GMR Aerocity marks a major milestone in our India growth strategy, bringing timeless luxury and modern hospitality to the capital. This signing is another step in our goal to grow our India portfolio to 10 times its current size in the next decade, supported by vast infrastructure investment and increasing appetite for travel,” Alan Watts, Hilton’s president (Asia Pacific) said.
GMR Group’s Corporate Chairman, Kiran Kumar Grandhi, stated that the partnership with Hilton underscores the group’s ongoing commitment to introducing world-class global brands to Aerocity.
As per consultancy firm HVS Anarock, Aerocity currently houses 12 hotels with a combined inventory of 3,700 keys. In addition to the upcoming Hilton properties, three more hotels are expected to contribute approximately 1,200 rooms to the Aerocity hospitality market.
