The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), one of India’s foremost hospitality leaders, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel on Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR). This development marks another milestone in the company’s expansion across Tamil Nadu’s capital, further strengthening its luxury presence in the region.
A Greenfield Development in Partnership with MGM Healthcare
The upcoming five-star property is being developed in partnership with MGM Healthcare and will be positioned as a premier luxury retreat along one of Chennai’s most scenic stretches. Spread across 13 acres on ECR, the 151-room Taj ECR Chennai will overlook the Bay of Bengal, offering a serene beachfront experience for both leisure and business travellers.
World-Class Dining, Wellness, and Event Spaces
Designed to deliver Taj’s signature blend of luxury and warmth, the new hotel will feature:
- An all-day dining restaurant
- Two specialty restaurants
- A bar
- Wellness and fitness amenities including the J Wellness Circle

- Banquet halls measuring 10,000 sq. ft. and 5,300 sq. ft.
- Dedicated meeting rooms and landscaped lawns for events
These facilities will position the Taj ECR Chennai as a preferred destination for high-end leisure stays, corporate gatherings, and large-scale social events.
