IndiGo Expands Central Asia Connectivity
IndiGo is set to enhance its international presence by launching direct flights from Mumbai to three Central Asian cities — Almaty (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Tbilisi (Georgia). The new routes will debut with Mumbai–Almaty on July 1, followed by Tashkent on August 1 and Tbilisi on August 2. This move represents a key milestone in IndiGo’s strategy to expand its global network.
The airline had previously introduced flights to these destinations from Delhi in 2023. Building on that success, the new Mumbai services cater to growing travel demand between India and Central Asia. IndiGo will operate four flights per week to both Almaty and Tashkent, and three weekly flights to Tbilisi, improving connectivity and convenience for travellers.
These new routes are expected to strengthen economic, cultural, and tourism links between India and the region. They aim to boost bilateral trade, promote tourism, and deepen people-to-people ties.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, noted that this expansion reaffirms the airline’s commitment to making international travel more accessible. He added that these culturally rich destinations will now be more accessible to Indian travelers, boosting inbound and outbound tourism.
