Kerala Tourism Launches Aanathazhchira Development Project
The Tourism Department on Wednesday launched a major project at Aanathazhchira, near Technocity in Pallippuram, Thiruvananthapuram. The initiative aims to showcase unexplored destinations, attract more tourists, and promote eco-friendly as well as nightlife tourism.
Marking the beginning of the project, Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas received the title deed for 16.7 acres of land– owned by the Revenue Department in Andoorkonam grama panchayat- from Revenue Minister K. Rajan.
Project Features and Facilities
The development will focus on water adventure sports, an eco-friendly park for children, and a dedicated bicycle track. Additionally, the Freedom Park of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will be established nearby, featuring an exhibition space to showcase the latest innovations from start-ups.
Local Development and Community Benefits
Speaking at the launch, Minister Riyas highlighted that the project would benefit the local community while giving Aanathazhchira a facelift. He noted that tourism initiatives play a key role in driving the overall development of an area.
Minister K. Rajan added that the project would tap into Aanathazhchira’s vast tourism potential, especially given its close proximity to Technocity.
Public-Private Partnership Model
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil, who presided over the function, praised the Tourism Department for undertaking the project in light of the location’s immense potential. The project will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
An Expression of Interest (EoI) for construction activities, part of the project’s envisioned ‘nightlife tourism’ theme, will be issued in September.
