MakeMyTrip Partners with Zomato to Bring Food Delivery on Trains

In a move set to transform train journeys, MakeMyTrip has partnered with Zomato to deliver fresh meals directly to passengers’ seats. Travelers booking train tickets via the MakeMyTrip app can now choose from 40,000+ restaurant partners on Zomato, available at 130+ stations across India.

Rising Demand for On-Train Food Delivery

The demand for e-catering services on trains has surged significantly. In FY 2024–25, over 90,000 rail passengers used Indian Railways’ e-catering service daily, reflecting a 66% year-on-year growth. With its proprietary ‘Live Train Status’ tool, MakeMyTrip ensures that passengers receive timely nudges to place orders, covering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Strong Initial Response

The soft launch of the service with Zomato has already shown encouraging results, highlighting passengers’ preference for travel-friendly meals. Building on this momentum, MakeMyTrip plans to run targeted campaigns to increase awareness of its ‘Food on Train’ offering.
