Marriott to Open Three Luxury Hotels in Calgary

Marriott International, in collaboration with Calgary-based Truman and Louson, has unveiled plans to open three new luxury hotels in Calgary as part of a major mixed-use development within the city’s Culture + Entertainment District.

Scheduled for opening between 2028 and 2030, the new additions include W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and an Autograph Collection hotel located at Stampede Park. Together, the properties will introduce more than 700 high-end hotel rooms and nearly 360 branded residences to the city’s hospitality landscape.

“We are thrilled to announce our newest hotel development in our hometown of Calgary,” said Tony Trutina, Chief Operating Officer, Truman. “As a Calgary-based and family-owned business, our commitment to this city runs deep. This project is not only a substantial private investment but also a major economic driver. It will create thousands of construction jobs and long-term employment opportunities, increase tourism, and support local enterprises through higher visitor spending. We are proud to contribute to Calgary’s dynamic future.”

W Calgary will soar 69 storeys and offer 157 hotel rooms, 239 branded residences, a rooftop bar, spa, and fitness centre. JW Marriott Calgary, a 62-storey tower, will include 248 rooms, 120 residences, indoor and outdoor pools, ample event space, and wellness amenities. The Autograph Collection hotel, located in the heart of Stampede Park, will feature 320 rooms and 15,000 sq. ft. of event space, as well as dining outlets, rooftop lounges, and wellness facilities.

With an investment of $1.47 billion, the development is anticipated to generate over 9,100 jobs during construction and 2,000 permanent roles, significantly enhancing Calgary’s tourism infrastructure and events capacity.

The project aligns with the city’s vision of revitalising its downtown core and establishing Calgary as a premier destination for events and tourism.

“As we continue expanding our offerings in Canada to meet the evolving needs of guests and partners, the introduction of W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and the Autograph Collection Hotel will bring a new tier of hospitality to this energetic city,” said Paul Cahill, Chief Operating Officer, Canada, Marriott International. “We are excited to partner with Truman and Louson — whose deep-rooted love for Calgary complements the exceptional service guests expect from the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.”
