Royal Orchid Hotels Partners with Paisa4Plates to Combat Hunger in India
Royal Orchid Hotels Limited (ROHL) has announced a meaningful partnership with Paisa4Plates, a charity movement spearheaded by Aryaveer Baljee, Youth MP for Hampshire. The initiative, launching with ICONIQA Mumbai, introduces a voluntary giving model across the group’s upscale and midscale hotels in India. Guests will now have the opportunity to contribute to feeding the homeless, supporting mid-day meals for children, and donating food to those in need simply by opting into the program during their stay.
Inspired by Global Success: From London to India
The program draws inspiration from the successful Pounds4Plates initiative in London. In the UK, participating restaurants added an optional 0.25% service charge to bills, with proceeds supporting food charities. Aryaveer Baljee has adapted this model to India under the Paisa4Plates banner, connecting it to his Indian roots and commitment to social impact.
By fostering empathy and raising consciousness among guests, the initiative directly addresses the pressing challenges of hunger and homelessness in India.
Voluntary Giving Across Royal Orchid’s 120+ Hotels
Guests staying at any of Royal Orchid’s 120+ properties across India spanning brands such as Regenta, Regenta Place, Royal Orchid, and ICONIQA can voluntarily contribute 0.5% of their bill to the cause.
Each hotel will choose local charities and food programs to support, ensuring the funds directly benefit the surrounding community. Transparency is a core focus, with contributions clearly communicated through table tents, in-room communication, and digital touchpoints.
Leadership Speaks on the Initiative
“We are thrilled to partner with Paisa4Plates to bring this meaningful initiative to our guests in India,” said Shibani Malhotra, General Manager, ICONIQA Mumbai. “This aligns with our core mission to make travel impactful for all. By offering our guests the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause, we hope to create a ripple effect of positive change in communities across India.”
Aryaveer Baljee, founder of Paisa4Plates, added: “Hospitality is about more than just service it’s about building bridges and uplifting communities. After the success of Pounds4Plates in the UK, I felt compelled to bring this model to India, where the need is immense. Partnering with ICONIQA and Royal Orchid Hotels, brands with a strong and growing presence in India, allows us to scale this initiative and make a tangible difference in the lives of the hungry and homeless.”
A Sustainable and Scalable Movement
The Paisa4Plates program is designed to be sustainable, low-barrier, and scalable. Hotels act as facilitators, ensuring guests can give back with ease while also enhancing goodwill and guest engagement.
The initiative will officially launch across Royal Orchid Hotels’ India portfolio in late 2025, with plans to expand further in collaboration with local NGOs and food banks. By weaving social good into the hospitality experience, Royal Orchid Hotels and Paisa4Plates are redefining the role of travel and tourism in community development.
