Shangri-La Bengaluru has announced the appointment of Rakesh Ramachandran as its new Director of Events. Rejoining the Shangri-La family, Rakesh brings with him over two decades of experience across hospitality operations, events, catering, group business, and food and beverage leadership.
A career rooted in hospitality excellence
Rakesh began his professional journey in Food & Beverage Service, building a strong operational foundation that shaped his expertise in large-scale event execution and guest experience delivery. Over the years, he has held senior leadership roles with some of the industry’s most respected brands, including The Leela Palace Bengaluru, Sheraton Bangalore, Conrad Pune, and Shangri-La Colombo. He was also part of the pre-opening team at Shangri-La Bengaluru, giving him a deep understanding of the property’s DNA.
Expanding expertise beyond hotels
Most recently, Rakesh was associated with Foodlink F&B Holdings as Director of Sales, where he further strengthened his capabilities in sales strategy, client relationships, and high-impact catering solutions. This experience adds a strong commercial lens to his operational expertise.
Driving the next phase of events and conventions
In his role as Director of Events, Rakesh will focus on enhancing Shangri-La Bengaluru’s events and conventions portfolio, with an emphasis on innovation, service excellence, and bespoke experiences. His comprehensive understanding of the events landscape positions him to elevate the hotel’s offerings for weddings, conferences, and large-format gatherings.
