Thailand Deepens Tourism Relations With India at SATTE 2026, Emphasizing Sustainable & Wellness Travel
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showcased a focused effort to deepen tourism ties with India during the South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2026, held from 25–27 February at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. TAT’s participation demonstrated Thailand’s commitment to raising its profile among Indian travellers and travel trade partners by emphasising sustainable tourism growth and the expanding economic impact of wellness-led travel experiences.
Promoting Sustainable and Wellness-Led Travel Experiences
At SATTE 2026, TAT introduced its latest initiative under the theme “Healing is the New Luxury”, which centres on wellness tourism, cultural experiences, and sustainable travel offerings. This approach aims to position Thailand as a premier destination for Indian tourists seeking rejuvenation, cultural immersion, and mindful travel experiences that go beyond traditional beach holidays.
Wellness tourism continues to grow as a priority for Indian travellers, with many millennials and Gen Z visitors seeking holistic experiences that blend physical well-being, cultural exploration and environmental consciousness aligning closely with Thailand’s strategic tourism roadmap.
India as a Key Growth Market for Thailand
India remains one of Thailand’s most important tourism markets, with projections estimating around 2.5 million Indian visitors to Thailand in 2026. These arrivals play a significant role in supporting tourism growth and generating economic value through increased spending on accommodation, experiences and services.
The steady influx of Indian tourists particularly those interested in culture, wellness and sustainable travel reflects a broader trend of demand for deeper, meaningful travel experiences that combine relaxation with personal growth.
Visa Ease and Air Connectivity Support Growth
To further stimulate demand, Thailand has enhanced accessibility for Indian travellers by offering visa-exemption measures allowing stays of up to 60 days for Indian passport holders, making travel planning simpler and more attractive. Enhanced air connectivity, with multiple carriers operating direct flights between India and Thailand, continues to support rising visitor numbers and encourages repeat travel.
Sustainable Tourism: The Future of Travel Collaboration
As India and Thailand strengthen tourism cooperation, sustainable tourism lies at the heart of future growth strategies. Thailand’s focus on eco-friendly practices, cultural preservation, and community engagement aligns with broader global travel trends that prioritise responsible travel and long-term destination viability.
By showcasing sustainability, wellness and culture at SATTE 2026, TAT underlined the economic and social benefits of travel that respects local environments and enriches visitor experiences while reinforcing Thailand’s image as a destination that caters to discerning and conscious travellers.
