The Lalit to Celebrate Indian Wine Day with Nationwide Events
The Lalit New Delhi is set to host the ninth edition of Indian Wine Day on November 16, 2025, celebrating India’s evolving wine culture through curated culinary experiences. The event, organised across Baluchi restaurants in New Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Mumbai, reinforces The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group’s commitment to promoting Indian winemaking and homegrown culinary talent.
A Celebration of India’s Growing Wine Culture
Indian Wine Day brings together contemporary Indian cuisine and the country’s emerging wine landscape. The initiative highlights the synergy between regional varietals and modern cooking styles, offering diners an opportunity to discover how Indian wines can beautifully complement Indian flavours.
Charles Donnadieu, Corporate Sommelier at The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, shared the significance of the annual celebration: “Indian Wine Day reflects our belief in showcasing the evolving excellence of Indian wines. Over nine years, it has become a meaningful platform to honour winemakers, elevate indigenous varieties and inspire diners to explore contemporary Indian cuisine through dynamic wine pairings. The date holds global relevance, and we take pride in celebrating India’s winemaking story on this significant day.”
Origins and Growth of Indian Wine Day
Established in 2017 in collaboration with the Indian Wine Academy, Indian Wine Day was created to honour India’s emerging wine industry and to demonstrate the adaptability of pairing Indian cuisine with Indian wines. Over the years, the initiative has expanded into a national movement that:
- celebrates regional terroirs,
- supports indigenous winemakers, and
- strengthens India’s presence on the global wine map.
The observance falls on November 16, aligning with Beaujolais Nouveau Day, a prominent international wine event. This alignment positions India within the global dialogue on winemaking and highlights the country’s growing contribution to the world wine industry.
Five-Course Wine Pairing Dinner Across Baluchi Restaurants
The 2025 edition will showcase a five-course wine pairing dinner specially curated by The Lalit’s culinary team. The menu highlights wines from Hampi Hills, Akluj and the Nashik Valley, each selected to complement contemporary Indian dishes.
Menu Highlights
- Smoked Aubergine Velouté paired with Sauvignon Blanc
- Chettinad Spiced Chicken paired with Akluj Rosé
