The Leela Expands Its Craft-Led Festive Initiative ‘Mirrors of Hope’

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has unveiled ‘Mirrors of Hope’, a unique festive initiative that reimagines traditional Lippan art in a modern, contemporary format. The installation, displayed across select Palace properties, features handcrafted Lippan Art Christmas Trees that beautifully merge cultural heritage with sustainability and community impact.

Designed in collaboration with women artisans supported by the Karigar Foundation, the initiative reinforces The Leela’s commitment to mindful luxury while celebrating India’s rich artistic legacy.

Honouring Heritage with Modern Expression

The stunning Lippan Art Trees are showcased at

  • The Leela Palace New Delhi
  • The Leela Palace Jaipur
  • The Leela Palace Bengaluru
  • The Leela Palace Udaipur

Traditionally practised by women in the Kutch region of Gujarat, Lippan art uses mud, mirrors, and geometric motifs to symbolize prosperity, reflection, and harmony. For this festive activation, artisans created modular, sustainable structures, ensuring every installation is reusable and respectful of the environment.

After the festive season, the installations will be upcycled into gifting items, extending their purpose beyond visual celebration.

Brand Philosophy Rooted in Culture and Connection

Speaking about the initiative, Anjali Mehra, Executive Vice President – Brand and Communications, shared: “Mirrors of Hope brings together everything we stand for as a brand. Lippan art has a quiet power that transforms simple materials into something luminous, and that spirit of transformation sits at the heart of this activation. It is not only about celebrating a beautiful craft but also about creating a moment of connection to heritage, to the women who shape this art and to the idea that joy can create impact. Through this initiative, we hope guests experience a festive season that is both meaningful and unmistakably The Leela.”

She further added that the initiative reflects The Leela’s vision for a festive season that is both meaningful and unmistakably aligned with the brand’s ethos.

A Celebration of Mindful Luxury and Circular Craftsmanship

Reinforcing the brand’s ESG commitment, Priyanka Rajgadkar, Associate Vice President – ESG, said: “This initiative is far more than festive decor. It is a purposeful expression of our commitment to mindful luxury where craft and impact coexist. By placing women artisans and circular craftsmanship at the centre of our celebrations, we are transforming a seasonal moment into one of meaning. True luxury is not only experienced. It uplifts, empowers and leaves a positive imprint.”

Her statement highlights The Leela’s focus on responsible luxury and the integration of community-led artistry into guest experiences.

Sustainability at the Core of Festive Celebrations

Beyond the Lippan installations, several hotels in The Leela portfolio are also showcasing sustainability-driven festive trees, including designs crafted from:

  • Repurposed wood
  • Reclaimed materials

Locally sourced artisanal elements

These installations reflect the brand’s ongoing emphasis on eco-conscious hospitality, celebrating the season with creativity and purpose.
