Andhra Pradesh Sees Tourism Boom as Over 7,000 New Hotel Rooms Take Shape
Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a strong surge in tourism-led infrastructure development, with over 7,000 new hotel rooms currently under development across the state. The expansion is supported by investments exceeding ₹20,000 crore in the tourism sector over the past 18 months, signalling renewed confidence among investors and hospitality players.
The update was shared by K Durgesh, Minister for Tourism, during a session of the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
Industry Status Gives Major Push to Tourism Investments
According to the Tourism Minister, the decision to grant industry status to tourism has played a pivotal role in accelerating investment inflows. This policy move has made the sector more attractive by improving access to financing, streamlining approvals, and creating a more business-friendly environment for hospitality and tourism-related projects.
“In the past 18 months, investments worth ₹20,088 crore have come into the state,” the minister informed the Council.
Over 7,300 Hotel Rooms Under Development
Breaking down the investment figures, the minister revealed that 7,348 hotel rooms are currently being developed with an estimated investment of ₹9,445 crore. These projects span a mix of luxury hotels, mid-scale properties, and emerging tourism destinations, aimed at strengthening the state’s accommodation capacity.
The development of new hotel rooms is expected to support Andhra Pradesh’s growing appeal across leisure, spiritual, coastal, and business tourism segments.
Strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism Ecosystem
The ongoing hotel expansion aligns with the state government’s broader vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a competitive tourism destination in India. Enhanced accommodation infrastructure is critical to supporting rising domestic and international visitor numbers, boosting employment, and driving regional economic growth.
With sustained policy support and investor interest, Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector is poised for long-term, scalable growth.
